EIFL renews agreement with scite, providing researchers access to powerful citation evaluation tool -

EIFL, an international organization supporting access to knowledge and information in developing and transition countries, has announced the renewal of its agreement with scite, ensuring researchers in eligible countries can continue to benefit from scite's innovative citation evaluation tool. The renewed agreement is set to commence on January 1, 2024, and will run for three years.

scite offers researchers a unique tool that provides both quantitative and qualitative insights into scientific publications' citation patterns. By utilizing the platform, users can gain valuable information about the citations of specific scientific articles, including the number of times an article has been cited, the context of citations from each citing paper, and whether the cited papers have any editorial notices or retractions.

A distinguishing feature of scite is its ability to analyze the content surrounding each citation, offering users a deeper understanding of how articles are referenced and the relationship between the citing and cited papers. Researchers can easily identify whether citations provide supportive or contrasting evidence for the cited claims, enhancing their ability to evaluate the relevance and impact of scientific articles accurately.

The tool is not only beneficial for individual researchers but also for university and library staff. Institutions in EIFL partner countries have the opportunity to access scite for free or at deeply discounted subscription prices, depending on their eligibility.

EIFL partner countries eligible for free access to scite include: Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Lesotho, Malawi, Myanmar, Senegal, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Uzbekistan, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

Furthermore, institutions in the following EIFL partner countries can avail themselves of deeply discounted subscription prices for scite: Albania, Armenia, Botswana, Côte d'Ivoire, Estonia, Fiji, Georgia, Ghana, Kosovo, Laos, Latvia, Lithuania, Maldives, Moldova, Namibia, North Macedonia, Palestine, Serbia, Slovenia, Thailand, Ukraine.

Through this renewed agreement, EIFL reinforces its commitment to empowering researchers and academic institutions in underserved regions by providing them with access to cutting-edge tools for scientific discovery and evaluation. By leveraging scite's powerful citation analysis capabilities, researchers can make more informed decisions and enhance their research productivity and impact. The collaboration between EIFL and scite represents a significant step towards bridging the information gap and promoting equitable access to knowledge and scholarly resources worldwide.
