STM publisher Elsevier and Maclean's, Canada's only national weekly current affairs magazine, worked together on Maclean's 2016 University Rankings.
Maclean's ranking methodology weighs factors that measure research productivity and performance, using a variety of bibliometric indicators such as publications and citations. Elsevier provided data on the research publication output in ten subject areas for a pre-determined list of 60 Canadian Universities; the subject areas include education, nursing, business, and biology.
Publication data was used from Scopus, the largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature, while analytical services were provided by SciVal - both part of the Elsevier Research Intelligence portfolio.
