Elsevier, the global information analytics business specialising in science and health, and the Conference of Italian University Rectors (CRUI), have announced an agreement to provide access to ScienceDirect, Elsevier's leading platform of peer-reviewed scholarly literature, for universities and research institutions across Italy.
Details of the subscription agreement were finalised at the end of June following negotiations held at the end of 2017, extending the current partnership between CRUI and Elsevier for the period 2018-2022. This 5-year agreement will enable more than 70 Italian universities and research institutions gain access to ScienceDirect, supporting researchers search, discover, read, and share scholarly literature.
CRUI and Elsevier have also initiated a pilot program that encourages Italian researchers to publish their articles open access in support of CRUI's open access ambitions.
