Elsevier, a global leader in scientific information and analytics, and Times Higher Education (THE), the provider of insights that evaluate university excellence globally, have announced an extended multi-year partnership. The collaboration, which began in 2014, will now continue through to 2030.
Under the new agreement, THE will continue to utilize Elsevier's Scopus and SciVal platforms for its global portfolio of university rankings, including the prestigious World University Rankings, Regional and Subject Rankings, Impact Rankings, and the forthcoming Interdisciplinary Science Rankings. Scopus will remain the exclusive source of bibliometric data for THE's rankings, while SciVal’s advanced analytics will support the development of research performance metrics.
THE's World University Rankings emphasize the research mission of institutions, combining survey responses from staff with bibliometrics and institutional data. The Impact Rankings, on the other hand, celebrate universities excelling in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), reflecting their commitment to addressing global challenges such as sustainability, inclusion, and economic growth.
With Scopus, the world’s largest database of peer-reviewed academic literature, and SciVal’s insights, THE will continue to analyze research activity from a wide range of global institutions, further enhancing the accuracy and scope of its rankings.
This partnership solidifies both organizations' shared goal of providing transparent, high-quality evaluations of university excellence across the globe.
