Elsevier, a global leader in scientific information and data analytics, has unveiled Scopus AI, a cutting-edge generative AI product aimed at assisting researchers and research institutions in obtaining fast and accurate research summaries and insights that foster collaboration and societal impact.
Based on Scopus' trusted content, which includes data from over 27,000 academic journals and more than 7,000 publishers worldwide, with over 1.8 billion citations and 17 million author profiles, Scopus AI has been meticulously developed and tested with the active involvement of the research community.
The alpha launch of Scopus AI in August 2023 garnered widespread attention, with thousands of researchers worldwide participating in testing. Valuable feedback from these researchers emphasized the demand for trustworthy, cited research that is not only relevant but also highly personalized to meet individual needs.
The following key features have been introduced in response to the research community's feedback: Expanded and Enhanced Summaries: Scopus AI provides researchers with fast overviews of key topics, enabling them to delve deeper and even highlighting gaps in the literature. The AI minimizes the risk of 'hallucinations' by leveraging the trustworthy and verified knowledge from the world’s largest database of curated scientific literature; Foundational and Influential Papers: Researchers can swiftly identify seminal works, navigating academic progress and impact with precision and ease; Academic Expert Search: This feature identifies leading experts in specific fields, providing explanations of their expertise relevant to the user’s query, thus saving valuable time; and Enhanced Breadth of Research: Covering ten years of Scopus content, Scopus AI ensures a well-rounded perspective on topics of interest. The improved design enhances the overall user experience.
