Elsevier, a global provider of scientific and healthcare information, has announced that ScienceDirect AI has been named Best Generative AI Solution at the 2025 CODiE Awards. Winners were revealed on October 22 following the finalist selection.
ScienceDirect AI is a workflow tool that enables academic and corporate researchers to surface, cite, compare, and explore trusted evidence from peer-reviewed literature. The tool generates instant research summaries, highlighting key findings and providing references to support reproducibility and research integrity.
In testing with users worldwide, it reportedly reduced time spent on literature research by approximately 50%. Elsevier’s leadership has emphasized that the recognition reflects accelerated innovation, collaboration with the research community, and a focus on trust in generative AI for research.
Elsevier underscores that the tool addresses information volume challenges, improves productivity, and supports better research outcomes. The CODiE program this year has recognized excellence across 76 categories and is considered a premier peer-reviewed recognition of innovation in business and education technology.
Elsevier has outlined that ScienceDirect AI accelerates literature discovery and synthesis within the ScienceDirect platform through referenced summaries, clickable source snippets, and structured comparisons of methods and results. The company highlighted that the tool surfaces evidence from millions of full-text, peer-reviewed articles and books on ScienceDirect with links to exact passages.
ScienceDirect AI includes features such as Ask ScienceDirect AI, Reading Assistant, and Compare Experiments to support movement from questions to evidence to synthesis, and has been developed in line with Elsevier’s Responsible AI and Privacy principles.
