Academic and professional literature publisher Emerald Group Publishing, UK, has announced that it has acquired Pier Professional Limited, a UK-based publisher of health and social care journals. The acquisition, which expands Emerald's presence in the health and social care field by 23 journals, builds on Emerald's growing footprint in the social sciences arena.
The 23 journals span subjects such as mental health and well-being, criminal justice and care, intellectual and learning disabilities, and include, amongst others, British Journal of Forensic Practice, Tizard Learning Disability Review, Journal of Public Mental Health and Drugs and Alcohol Today.
Reflecting its commitment to community development and subject leadership, Emerald will continue to work with both academic and practitioner editorial teams and partner organisations including the Tizard Centre, University of Kent; TriNova Research and Consultancy; Nacro, the crime reduction charity; the Institute of Mental Health and the Mental Health Foundation.
