Academic publisher Emerald Group Publishing is partnering with ORCID, which provides a registry of unique researcher identifiers and a transparent method of linking research activities, as part of continued efforts to support the author community and the scholarly discovery process.
ORCID is a community driven, non-profit organisation with the aim of resolving ambiguity problems for the research community. Its central register of unique identifiers - ORCID IDs - for individual researchers provide an open and transparent process for organisations and researchers to connect and enhance their scholarly offering - ensuring an authors work is supported and suitably recognised.
By adopting ORCID's established industry identifier method, Emerald has been able to enrich content metadata which improves the scholarly discovery process; the efficiency of research funding; and supports the sharing of research and collaboration within the research community.
Emerald aims to provide an enhanced digital approach to its content, improving the discovery process and global impact of published research, as well as helping its authors to build a full publication history - emphasizing their research offering.
