Ex Libris and NewsBank in deal to add Readex content to the Primo Central Index -

Library technology solutions provider Ex Libris Group has signed an agreement with NewsBank to include a number of the Readex Archive of Americana collections in the Primo Central Index. Offered as a cloud-based service to institutions around the globe, the Primo Central Index gives users access to hundreds of millions of scholarly e-resources of global and regional importance.

For nearly 70 years, Readex has served as an authoritative source of primary research materials covering American history, literature, politics, culture, and daily life. The NewsBank-Ex Libris agreement will enable mutual customers of Readex and the Primo Central Index to search the metadata of collections such as the U.S. Congressional Serial Set, 1817-1994; Early American Imprints, Series I: Evans, 1639-1800; Early American Imprints, Series II: Shaw-Shoemaker, 1801-1819; Early American Imprints, Series I: Supplement from the Library Company of Philadelphia, 1670-1800; Early American Imprints, Series II: Supplement from the Library Company of Philadelphia, 1801-1819; American Broadsides and Ephemera, Series 1, 1760-1900; and Afro-Americana Imprints, 1535-1922: From the Library Company of Philadelphia.

According to David Beychok, vice president of discovery and delivery solutions at Ex Libris, mutual customers of Readex and the Primo Central Index will now benefit from an extraordinary breadth and depth of material from American historical sources. Ex Libris is participating at the Frankfurt Book Fair, at booth L72 in hall 4.2.
