Figshare, an online digital repository for academic research, has announced a partnership with the Genetics Society of America (GSA). The Genetics Society of America is the professional membership organisation for scientific researchers and educators in the field of genetics.
GSA is dedicated to promoting research in genetics and to facilitating communication among geneticists worldwide through its scholarly journals and professional conferences. GSA has more than 5,000 individual members who work at colleges and universities, government and private research institutes, medical schools, corporate and industrial settings, and other institutions.
Authors submitting to GENETICS and G3: Genes|Genomes|Genetics will now have their supplementary material - from datasets and graphics to 3D files and code - visualised in figshare. Submissions will be made through a branded submission portal that includes guidance on the data policy and contact information for support.
With Figshare, authors can upload any file type of any size. All supplemental material and data will now have a DOI that's linked to the paper, and authors get to choose the type of open source license their data is published under – which gives them control over how their data is used.
Supplemental material and data from papers published at GENETICS and G3 will now be available at https://gsajournals.figshare.com.
