FIZ Karlsruhe and OpenAIRE have established a partnership to improve integration, data quality, and interoperability of research information systems across Europe. The collaboration focuses on linking Germany’s Nationale Forschungsdateninfrastruktur (NFDI) with European Open Science ecosystems as part of FIZ Karlsruhe priorities.
FIZ Karlsruhe contributes curated data and aligns metadata standards to ensure the representation of information from the Nationale Forschungsdateninfrastruktur (NFDI) and German research organizations within infrastructures such as the OpenAIRE Graph and the European Open Science Cloud. The alignment aims to support improved consistency, reduced fragmentation, and enhanced interoperability across national and European systems.
The collaboration enables the development of tailored datasets from the OpenAIRE Graph for the German research community, including support for the Competence Network of Bibliometrics. Strengthening connections between publications, datasets, software, and organizations enhances the usability of Nationale Forschungsdateninfrastruktur-related data for analysis and strategic decision-making.
Through the partnership, FIZ Karlsruhe contributes perspectives on the Nationale Forschungsdateninfrastruktur to the European environment, while OpenAIRE incorporates curated information from the German research ecosystem into the OpenAIRE Graph. The collaboration aims to contribute to a connected research information environment by providing access to interoperable data for researchers, institutions, funders, and policymakers, and reflects a shared focus on openness, data quality, and international cooperation.
