Frontiers chooses CCC's Ringgold Identify Database as Its Persistent Identifier solution -

CCC, a prominent player in advancing copyright, accelerating knowledge, and fostering innovation, has announced a significant collaboration with Frontiers, a leading Gold Open Access (OA) publisher of peer-reviewed scientific articles. Frontiers has selected the acclaimed Ringgold Identify Database as its Persistent Identifier (PID) solution, marking a pivotal move to enhance its OA models by normalizing and disambiguating organization data.

The Ringgold Identify Database, boasting over 600,000 Ringgold PIDs and metadata records, offers a meticulously curated perspective on organization data. This comprehensive resource empowers stakeholders across the scholarly communications landscape to enhance data quality, make informed strategic decisions, and facilitate data interoperability. The database finds utility among intermediaries, funders, institutions, and an expanding roster of prominent publishers.

Notably, the Ringgold Identify Database stands out as the sole solution providing structured organizational hierarchies and consortia connections, facilitating rapid comprehension of intricate relationships within the scholarly domain. In addition to rich metadata, the database incorporates various identifiers, including the ISNI ID, an open ISO standard designed to bolster wider interoperability.

Since CCC's acquisition of Ringgold, the organization has emerged as a frontrunner in providing PIDs for entities involved in the scholarly communications sphere. CCC relies on Ringgold identifiers to disambiguate author affiliations associated with Article Processing Charges (APCs), managed through RightsLink for Scientific Communications (RLSC).
