This groundbreaking collaboration is set to significantly enrich CloudSource, SirsiDynix's premier content and discovery services platform, with over one billion records, enhancing the experience for library users and researchers.
Both companies share a common mission: emphasizing the importance of libraries as hubs of discovery and empowering communities through their software and services. Working together, they aim to provide a seamless search experience for subscribers of both Gale and CloudSource.
The integration will showcase Gale's extensive array of online databases, which include full-text journal articles, newspapers, archives, and eBooks, within a single, unified discovery index. This integration promises to revolutionize how libraries organize web content, promote resource awareness, and boost usage.
As the digital landscape continues to evolve and periodical subscription costs escalate at a rate of 4 to 6% annually, libraries worldwide face the challenge of adaptation. The partnership between Gale and SirsiDynix aims to address three critical goals simultaneously: Centralized Discovery: Users will have access to the majority of the library's content, encompassing resources from subscription content providers, books, serials, newspapers, and more, all through a centralized discovery platform; Efficient Article Retrieval: Users will benefit from direct article retrieval via Gale Direct Linking, streamlining the process of accessing critical information; and Swift Full-Text Access: Users will experience expedited access to full-text articles, bypassing common obstacles associated with link resolvers.
