Specialised vertical search, information services and e-publishing company GlobalSpec, US, has announced a partnership with Aras Corporation, a Microsoft enterprise open source software provider of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions.
The partnership represents the first time that the GlobalSpec part specification search web services have been directly integrated with an on-premise enterprise PLM solution. The combined GlobalSpec and Aras offering is projected to represent a revolutionary advancement in software-cum-services for engineering and manufacturing companies worldwide.
Through this relationship, Aras users can search for products, parts, components and services within the Aras solution for PLM by specification and seamlessly access the entire GlobalSpec library. The library includes more than 180 million searchable product specs in 2.3 million product families from over 24,000 searchable supplier catalogues. Additionally, users can quickly access the Engineering Web, which includes over 250 million web pages consisting of engineering and technical content powered by GlobalSpec. They can also expect to search for materials - including engineering and technical web sites and web pages, part numbers, news, research papers, editorial content, material properties, patents and standards - faster and more easily.
