The Greater Western Library Alliance (GWLA) has announced a preferred purchasing agreement with Reprints Desk, Inc., a Research Solutions company. GWLA members will receive preferred purchasing terms for single-article document delivery services. The agreement, which supplements interlibrary loan (ILL) and provides same-day acquisition of scholarly peer-reviewed journal articles, follows similar arrangements with other consortia and library organisations.
Document delivery services will be made available via Article Galaxy, Reprints Desk's online portal that serves as a gateway for fast access to specially-priced scholarly articles from more than 40,000 journals, as well as book chapters from hundreds of thousands of titles. The discounts comprise publisher-negotiated copyright royalty rates as well as deep discounts on service fees and rapid delivery of high-quality, native PDFs.
Article Galaxy facilitates price-by-article lookups, browsing through a growing list of participating publishers and publications, Reprints Desk's hallmark easy ordering, 100 percent PDF delivery, plus 24/7 service and support. Participating publishers include Elsevier, John Wiley & Sons, Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, Springer Verlag, Nature Publishing Group, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and dozens of others.
Other highlights of the academic library program include: easy implementation process with no set up costs; seamless integration into workflows and popular ILL systems such as ILLiad and RapidILL; sizeable coverage spanning a growing number of journal titles; beyond-the-collection options for access to any article, any publisher; 24/7 customer support and fulfilment; and no long-term or onerous contracts.
GWLA member libraries may sign up for the Reprints Desk program by contacting Anne E. McKee, Program Officer for Resource Sharing at GWLA.
