Health and Social Care Information Centre and BMJ Informatica sign agreement for GP software -

Health and Social Care Information Centre ('HSCIC'), the national provider of information, data and IT systems for health and social care, has signed an agreement with BMJ Informatica to provide its patient check-in, online appointments and clinical decision support services through the new GP Systems of Choice (GPSoc) Framework. BMJ Informatica, a clinical improvement software systems provider, helps staff and clinicians work seamlessly with a wide range of systems to improve clinical outcomes and reduce the cost of primary healthcare delivery.

The Framework, procured on behalf of NHS England, replaces the existing arrangement in April 2014 and will improve choice and help practices deliver care efficiently and successfully.

The Framework is geared towards helping practices get the best out of their GP clinical systems. GPs in England and Northern Ireland will have access to central funding to purchase BMJ Informatica's popular FrontDesk appointments management software system.

The software is focused on practice effectiveness and clinical quality improvement, ensuring better use of clinician and clinic time.

FrontDesk helps GP practices manage their appointment bookings more effectively while Appointments Online allows patients to book appointments, order repeat prescriptions and communicate securely with practice staff.
