HighWire Press and Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers announce strategic partnership -

HighWire Press, a not-for-profit division of Stanford University libraries, has announced a strategic partnership with the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE). The deal is to create a vibrant new digital library built and hosted upon the HighWire Publishing platform.

The overarching theme of the project is to tie together the various elements of the Society's products, including the SMPTE Motion Imaging Journal, SMPTE conference proceedings, and its full suite of Standards, Recommended Practices, and Engineering Guidelines. Taxonomy development and application (for semantic enrichment purposes) are also key parts of the Digital Library initiative.

HighWire Press provides digital content development and hosting solutions to the scholarly publishing community. A division of the Stanford University Libraries since 1995, HighWire has partnered with influential societies, university presses, and other publishers to produce the definitive online versions of high-impact, peer-reviewed journals, books, reference works, and other scholarly content.
