IEEE announced that its portfolio of journals achieved leading positions in the latest global citation rankings, according to the June 2026 releases of Clarivate’s Journal Citation Reports™ (JCR) and Scopus’s CiteScore™ metrics. The results highlight consistent performance across engineering, computing, and artificial intelligence, with IEEE journals securing top placements in multiple subject areas.
The Journal Impact Factor™ (JIF), calculated on citations received over a two‑year period, placed IEEE journals prominently across categories. Highlights included 14 of the top 20 journals in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, 16 of the top 20 in Telecommunications, and multiple top‑ranked titles in computer science and automation. Specific journals such as IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials and Proceedings of the IEEE were among those recognized for high impact.
CiteScore, based on Scopus data over a four‑year window, also reflected strong performance. IEEE journals ranked highly in electrical engineering, computer science, signal processing, automotive engineering, and applied mathematics. Titles such as IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence and IEEE Signal Processing Magazine were among those achieving top positions.
Following the release of the rankings, bibliometric indicators were updated in the IEEE Xplore Digital Library, enabling users to access journal‑level and article‑level data.
IEEE also reported that ten recently launched publications earned their first Journal Impact Factors after being accepted for indexing in the Web of Science Core Collection™ in 2026. These included titles such as IEEE Communication Standards Magazine, IEEE Networking Letters, and IEEE Transactions on Industrial Cyber‑Physical Systems.
In addition to JIF and CiteScore, IEEE tracks other bibliometric indicators such as Article Influence® Score and Eigenfactor®. These measures further demonstrate the influence of IEEE journals across fields including electrical engineering, telecommunications, and artificial intelligence.
