IHS Inc., a global source of critical information and insight, and Oxford University Press (OUP) recently announced that a collection of authoritative engineering reference books from OUP have been integrated into the IHS cloud-based technical research solution. This solution, called IHS Knowledge Collections, is used by engineers, scientists and researchers to find answers to tough technical challenges.
As a department of the University of Oxford, OUP's worldwide publishing furthers the university's objectives of excellence in scholarship, research and education with a focus on ensuring publications meet quality expectations and support those aims of furthering education and disseminating knowledge.
Selected titles - including Oxford Dictionary of Chemistry, 6th ed., Fabrication Engineering at the Micro- and Nanoscale, and Mechanical Assemblies - are now accessible via the IHS Knowledge Collections, a solution combining single-point access to comprehensive engineering and technical content from authoritative sources. Knowledge Collections totals more than 100 million documents and features a patented question-answer query technology.
For instance, a design or manufacturing engineer could use IHS Knowledge Collections to discover solutions to complex challenges such as the application of high-strength, lightweight materials to improve the design of their products. The engineer could also discover articles and patents for various materials, study best practices and applications in engineering reference books like Advanced Mechanics of Materials, and ensure the new material meets all of the manufacturability and quality testing to related industry and national standards for taking this new product to international markets.
