Indian medical library consortium to gain access to medical content via Elsevier's electronic platforms -

Publisher Elsevier Health Sciences has announced an agreement with India-based premier medical library consortium for e-resources, Helinet. Under the deal, Elsevier Health Sciences will provide all medical students at Helinet's medical colleges with access to leading international and local medical content through Elsevier's electronic platforms: ScienceDirect and MD Consult.

The special agreement provides all undergraduates, graduates, researchers and faculty within the Consortium with access to more than 260 journals and 50 leading reference books including authoritative titles from the scientific and medical literature such as The Lancet and Cell.

Health Science Library and Information Network (HELINET) was conceived by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, RGUHS, and was successfully implemented, becoming the first of its kind in the country. HELINET was also conceived as the consortium of all the teaching and research institutions affiliated to RGUHS, and pursues the need for networking and resource sharing. The Consortium began with a vision to improve the quality of education and research in Health Sciences institutions of the country through enhanced access to high-quality medical information.
