IntechOpen joins ORCID to enhance transparency and reliable attribution in research -

IntechOpen, a leading open access publisher, has announced its membership of ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID), an independent non-profit organization dedicated to fostering transparency in the research process. ORCID provides researchers with a unique identifier, known as an ORCID iD that serves as a persistent digital signature linking all their scholarly outputs, affiliations, and relevant information. By integrating ORCID metadata into its systems, IntechOpen aims to enhance the credibility of author attribution and contribute to a more transparent research ecosystem.

ORCID plays a crucial role in facilitating reliable author and contributor attribution, enabling accurate recognition of scholarly work and avoiding issues related to name variations or affiliations. By registering for an ORCID iD, researchers establish a permanent and unambiguous record of their contributions. IntechOpen recognizes the importance of this initiative and has become an ORCID member to actively support its mission.

IntechOpen has implemented ORCID across its journals, utilizing the article submission and peer review platform, ReView, developed by River Valley Technologies. This integration streamlines the workflow and improves the integrity of the submission, review, and discovery processes by ensuring the availability of reliable author and reviewer information. Additionally, IntechOpen will credit reviewers using the River Valley platform and automatically update their ORCID records with their review activities.

IntechOpen's membership in ORCID signifies its commitment to enhancing the integrity and credibility of research outputs. By integrating ORCID metadata into its systems and encouraging authors to adopt ORCID iDs, IntechOpen is taking a significant step towards creating a more transparent and trustworthy research environment.

ORCID's community-driven approach resonates with IntechOpen's mission to foster openness and inclusivity in scientific research. By actively participating in initiatives such as ORCID, IntechOpen continues to strengthen its commitment to advancing scholarly communication and supporting researchers in their pursuit of knowledge dissemination.
