The official journal of the IEA, the International Journal of Epidemiology (IJE) has been placed at the top of its field in the ISI Web of Science Journal Citation Reports, published by Thomson Reuters. The 2013 impact factor ratings place the IJE first out of a field of 160 journals.
Since taking up the editorship of the IJE at the turn of the millennium, George Davey Smith and Shah Ebrahim have slowly but surely driven the journal up the impact factor rankings.
According to Paul Kidd, Oxford University Press, which publishes the IJE, this is the first time an epidemiology journal has ever achieved an impact factor of 9+. This is a triumph for the editors and the editorial board.
