International Journal of Optics accepted into the Science Citation Index Expanded -

Hindawi has announced that the International Journal of Optics has been accepted into the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE), an index of more than 8,500 notable and significant journals from Clarivate Analytics' Web of Science. The addition of the journal to SCIE means that published work will now be more discoverable to a wider audience, as well as providing extra recognition for the authors, editors, and reviewers. It also means that the journal will receive its first Impact Factor when Clarivate Analytics release their 2018 Journal Citation Report later this year.

Prior to acceptance into this key indexing database, the journal underwent a rigorous evaluation process. Researchers who have written and reviewed for the journal have contributed hugely to its success. Indeed, there have been numerous interesting papers published in the International Journal of Optics over the past two years. These include a review article written by Prof. Garmire of Dartmouth College discussing the history and applications of stimulated brillouin, a research article authored by Dr Mahnke et al. reporting the creation of solitons in amplifying fibers, as well as a research article written by Dr Zulkipli et al. discussing how Unmanned Aerial Vehicles can be used to provide accurate data for road design. This final article was included in a Special Issue on optical 3D imaging technology, guest edited by Prof Xiaowei Li of Sichuan University.

Hindawi plans to continue building on this success in the coming year through a range of new projects and initiatives - by continuing to collaborate with their valued editors, authors, reviewers, and readers; by improving the all round journal experience from submission, through review, upto publication and reading; and by striving for ever greater openness and excellence in everything they do.
