IOP Publishing in deal with the IUPAP Commission on Computational Physics to publish open-access conference proceedings -

Non-profit scientific publisher Institute of Physics (IOP) Publishing, UK, and the International Union for Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP) Commission on Computational Physics have signed a five-year framework agreement for publishing open-access conference proceedings. This is the first formal publishing agreement of its kind between IOP and IUPAP.

Under the deal, the proceedings of the annual Conference on Computational Physics will be published as volumes within the open access Journal of Physics: Conference Series (JPCS). JPCS is a fully open-access proceedings journal which covers the entire spectrum of physics research, publishing more than 60 proceedings per year. Its rapid growth and adoption by the international physics community is reflected in more than 150,000 article downloads every month. Authors retain the copyright of their proceedings papers.

The new arrangement comes into effect immediately. The proceeding of the October 2011 event in Gatlinburg, TN, USA, will be the first to be published in the JPCS.
