STM publisher IOS Press, Netherlands, has announced that it has acquired Millpress Science Publishers for an undisclosed amount. Millpress is focused on conference proceedings in the field of engineering, earth sciences and environmental sciences. Ger Guijs Publishers, which was the previous owner of Millpress, is now set to focus more on multicultural society and education.
Most of the published books of Millpress Academic Publishers are related to the Delft University Press book fund (geosciences, urbanisation and engineering), which was acquired by IOS Press in 2005. With the latest acquisition, IOS Press expects to develop these disciplines in greater depth.
IOS Press publishes about 130 book titles each year, with subjects ranging from computer sciences and mathematics to medicine and the natural sciences. The company also publishes some 90 international journals on a number of subjects. All journals are available online and an online book platform was launched in the first half of 2006.
