Ireland’s Technological Universities and Institutes of Technology have been confirmed to join IReL’s agreement with Emerald Group Publishing beginning in January 2026, expanding their access to Emerald’s Premier journal collection and enabling unlimited open access publishing in participating journals without publication fees.
The institutions included in the expansion are Atlantic Technological University, Dundalk Institute of Technology, Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology, Munster Technological University, South East Technological University, and Technological University of the Shannon: Midlands Midwest.
Since joining IReL in 2023, these institutions have participated in sixteen agreements with major publishers, providing broad access to research and teaching resources across disciplines. The expanded participation also aligns with their ongoing efforts to make their research outputs openly accessible.
