STM publisher Springer has announced a partnership with Island Press, a non-profit environmental publisher, for the distribution of their titles electronically for the next two years. Under the deal, Island Press books will be featured in Springer's eBook Collections of scientific, technical and medical publications on www.springerlink.com.
The collaboration will allow Springer to use its long-term library relationships as well as its international sales and marketing teams to open up the global institutional market to the Island Press publishing programme.
The partnership will promote the work of Island Press' author list that includes internationally recognised water expert Peter H. Gleick, ecological champion David W. Orr, and sustainable community authority Timothy Beatley. The collaboration, beginning this copyright year, includes about 20 new Island Press titles annually in Springer's Earth and Environmental Sciences eBook Collection.
Island Press will continue to distribute print and individual electronic versions of these titles.
