The American Society for Microbiology (ASM) has expanded the affiliation network of its Journal of Virology (JVI) through a new partnership with the Japanese Society for Virology (JSV).
With the addition of JSV, the organization becomes the fifth affiliated partner in JVI's international network of virology societies. The partnership is intended to strengthen global collaboration within the virology research community and support the dissemination of scientific research related to viruses and infectious diseases.
The Journal of Virology publishes research on viral biology, including studies of host-virus interactions, pathogenesis, immune responses, viral evolution, vaccines, antiviral treatments, and disease transmission. Under the affiliation agreement, JSV members will receive benefits such as discounts on journal subscriptions, page charges, supplemental material hosting, and reprint purchases.
Dinesh Soares, Assistant Director of ASM Journals, said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to supporting researchers, encouraging scientific exchange, and advancing virology research through stronger international collaboration.
ASM noted that the affiliation network helps strengthen connections among researchers and scientific organizations worldwide. JSV joins the American Society for Virology (ASV), Society of Virology (GfV), Australasian Virology Society (AVS), and Korean Society of Virology (KSoV) as partner organizations supporting the journal's mission.
Yasushi Kawaguchi, President of JSV, said the partnership is expected to create new opportunities for scientific collaboration and international engagement for society members. He added that JSV looks forward to working with ASM and the Journal of Virology to support advances in virology research and public health.
The partnership further expands JVI's international society network while providing additional opportunities for researchers to engage with the global virology community.
