JMIR Publications has launched a new call for papers for the ‘Participatory Artificial Intelligence for Health’ section within the open access Journal of Participatory Medicine. The new section aims to explore how patients, caregivers, clinicians, researchers, and the public can actively shape and use AI technologies to improve health outcomes.
As AI continues to influence healthcare delivery and decision-making, the initiative shifts attention toward collaborative and human-centered approaches. The journal seeks research that examines how participatory AI can support self-care, shared decision-making, and trust, while addressing risks related to privacy, equity, and security.
Submissions are invited across a wide range of topics, including stakeholder experiences with generative AI tools, co-design and co-production of AI tools, and the clinical use of AI tools that directly interact with patients and communities. JMIR Publications particularly encourages interdisciplinary and coauthored submissions that bring together diverse stakeholder perspectives.
