ScienceOpen and JMIR Publications have worked together to develop two collections that promote quality research in digital health – these collections cover informatics, web or app-based interventions, misinformation, and beyond. The publications will be embedded in ScienceOpen's discovery environment of over 76 million publications for increased visibility and will be placed in context with other relevant collections to increase the impact of the research even further.
The flagship title, Journal of Medical Internet Research, is a pioneer open-access journal in the field of health informatics, as well as one of the first international peer-reviewed journals dedicated to research in the application of information and using the Internet and other connected technologies to improve health outcomes. Given this history, ScienceOpen has announced the addition of two JMIR collections: the Research Protocols Collection and the Digital Health Collection.
The publications in these two collections will help ScienceOpen and JMIR achieve their goals of increasing global access to scientific knowledge.
The Digital Health Collection will highlight the breadth and quality of digital health research covered in the JMIR portfolio, with many of the articles featured being beneficiaries of Open Science best-practices such as open peer review. This collection covers disciplines JMIR is most well-known for including, but not limited to, public health surveillance, serious games, informatics, AI applications in healthcare, and mental health. Simultaneously, the JMIR Research Protocols Collection will showcase methodologies published in advance of results. Research Protocols provide clarity on a study's capabilities, reduce bias toward positive results, and create an early citable record of innovative research – browsing this collection on ScienceOpen will engage authors with a variety of clinical studies across healthcare research, and encourage publication of a methodology for their next research project.
