Educational publisher Jones and Bartlett Publishers, Inc. (J&B), US, recently announced the acquisition of Infinity Science Press, a privately held publisher, for an undisclosed amount. Infinity specialises in the areas of computer science, engineering, mathematics, business and physics designed primarily for the educational and professional/reference markets.
David Pallai, founder of Infinity Science Press and a Yale graduate with 30 years of publishing experience, will be joining J&B as Publisher. Previously, he had founded Charles River Media, a publisher of computer science books that was acquired by Thomson Learning in July 2005. Pallai has also worked with Academic Press and Addison-Wesley.
Infinity's titles are designed primarily for the educational and professional/reference markets. The company's worldwide distribution includes domestic and international universities, wholesalers, independent retailers and chain stores, Internet-based retailers, e-book vendors, book clubs, as well as corporate, public and academic libraries.
J&B offers textbooks, reference products, testing and assessment services and training materials in both print and digital formats. Its products are primarily targeted at students and professionals in schools, corporations, hospitals, government organisations and the military.
