JSTOR partners with Schweitzer to enhance library ebook access in Germany -

JSTOR, a renowned digital library for academic journals, books, and primary sources, has announced a new partnership with Schweitzer Fachinformationen, a leading library service provider in Germany. This collaboration will streamline the process for more than 200 academic and public libraries across Germany to acquire high-quality, DRM-free ebooks from premier scholarly presses.

Starting on June 1, 2024, libraries can easily select and order individual titles from the extensive collection of over 132,000 ebooks available on JSTOR. These titles cover a wide range of disciplines in the arts, humanities, social sciences, and languages, including both front and back list titles. The integration of these ebooks into the Schweitzer system ensures that libraries can purchase them seamlessly within their existing workflows.

This partnership will significantly enhance the accessibility of scholarly resources for German libraries. All ebooks are fully searchable and integrated with JSTOR’s vast collections of journals, images, and primary sources, many of which are already widely utilized by German institutions. This integration not only broadens the scope of available resources but also enriches the research capabilities of library patrons.

The arrangement leverages Schweitzer Fachinformationen’s established relationships and expertise in serving libraries, ensuring that the acquisition process is both efficient and cost-effective. Libraries interested in benefiting from this new offering are encouraged to contact their Schweitzer representative for more details and to begin the selection process.
