Web-based information services provider Knovel, US, has announced partnerships with five new publishers. The new publishers are: American Oil Chemists Society; Cambridge University Press; Earthscan; Synapse Information Resources; and Water Environment Federation.
Knovel content is sourced from more than 50 international publishers and professional societies. These new partnerships contribute significantly to Knovel's 30 percent growth in content over the past year, including new topic areas for Sustainable Energy and Development.
Knovel stands apart from other resources by providing optimised engineering search and allowing users to interact with specialised digital objects. Whereas traditional print and online reference works typically present tabular data, charts, graphs and equations, Knovel transforms these elements into interactive objects, making them far easier to work with. Using interactive objects, Knovel customers can search for data within numerical ranges, manipulate tabular data, plot points on graphs and export results. Knovel has nearly 50,000 interactive objects within its collection and will add 4,000 more in 2009 as it continues to attract and add new publishers.
