Kortext and Rialto have entered a new collaboration that will make electronic content from Kortext available through the Rialto Marketplace. Under the partnership, Kortext materials will be integrated into Rialto’s referral model to support streamlined discovery and ordering. The arrangement is described as part of ongoing efforts to expand the Rialto Marketplace, giving librarians the ability to acquire ebooks from the Kortext catalog. The addition of Kortext introduces an e-textbook platform to the marketplace and brings another ebook aggregator into the Rialto offering.
The expansion is presented as a response to feedback from library partners seeking broader options, greater flexibility, and wider access to digital learning resources. By incorporating Kortext’s catalog, the partnership increases the range of ebooks available while adding e-textbook content intended to support teaching, learning, and research across institutions.
The referral model used in Rialto is designed to simplify content acquisition by facilitating direct engagement with provider platforms. According to information shared with community groups such as the Rialto Working Group, the Rialto Focus Group, ELUNA, customer advisory boards, and individual institutions, feedback on this approach has been positive.
Insights attributed to Kortext indicate that the collaboration is viewed as a way to broaden ebook acquisition options for Rialto customers, including access to perpetual-access titles and digital tools that support study and analytics. Perspectives from Clarivate frame the partnership as part of continued marketplace development, noting that Kortext represents an additional aggregator with a catalog spanning more than 10,000 publishers and over 5 million ebooks and videos, as well as the first e-textbook platform to join the marketplace.
