Researchers at Kyoto University can now publish their work rapidly and with full transparency, as Kyoto University becomes an affiliate of F1000’s Japan Institutional Gateway (JIG), following the lead of the University of Tsukuba.
The Gateway combines the benefits of rapid publication and post-publication peer review with mechanisms to assure quality and transparency; rigorous pre-publication checks, open peer review, archiving and indexing. All outputs published on JIG have open licenses, ensuring free access and maximizing the opportunity for use and re-use.
Research in all subject areas can be published on the Gateway. Researchers in humanities and social sciences can choose to publish their articles in Japanese or English, showcasing their work in a Scopus-indexed, international publishing venue in the language that best befits their work.
Launched with the support of the University of Tsukuba, JIG aims to increase the visibility of Japanese research across the globe. This mission reflects Kyoto University’s long-standing strategy and programs that foster international collaboration and promote their students and research globally. Kyoto University joins Nagoya Institute of Technology, Saitama University, Tokai University, Tsukuba University of Technology, University of Fukui, University of Toyama, Utsunomiya University, as well as the founder, University of Tsukuba.
The JIG publishing model is also used on customized publishing Platforms provided by F1000 to major global funders, including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Wellcome, and the European Commission. The JIG affiliation program continues to grow and F1000 welcomes expressions of interest from all Japanese research institutions.
