A new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between LIBER and ADBU (Association des directeurs et personnels de direction des bibliothèques universitaires et de la documentation) has recently been approved. The MoU was signed off during LIBER’s Executive Board Meeting on the Feb 11, 2021 and by ADBU’s Board on the Feb 18, 2021.
This new MoU will enable ADBU and LIBER to work together on joint projects in the library and research sectors. Moreover, it is a result of LIBER’s wishes to reinforce connections with national library networks and to further add value for its member libraries.
The first project as part of this MoU will be a joint study titled, “Science and Knowledge Openness – Developing Open Science Skills and Competencies in the Academic World”.
The study will aim to determine the competencies necessary for the development of Open Science in Europe; benchmark current strategies, leadership, and progress in developing the skills needed to implement effective Open Science practices in higher education and research institutions and scientific networks in Europe; propose prospective recommendations in terms of the methods, actors, and content for the development of Open Science skills in the academic and research professions; propose recommendations in terms of Human Capital and Talent Management to accelerate the implementation of Open Science policies and practices in higher education, research institutions and scientific networks in Europe; and present key indicators of comparative performance and trend indicators across countries.
