Lippincott Williams & Wilkins content to be indexed on EBSCO Discovery Service -

Library resources provider EBSCO and healthcare information provider Wolters Kluwer Health (WK Health) have come to an agreement allowing metadata from WK Health's Lippincott Williams & Wilkins (LWW) journals on the Ovid institutional research platform to be added to EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS). This agreement makes the WK Health journal portfolio on EDS with its Medknow open access medical journals currently accessible to users.

EDS users will now have the ability to search the abstract and full reference (metadata) details of the LWW portfolio of 280 medical, nursing and allied health journals. The journal collection offers leading titles in medicine, nursing and allied health including highly ranked titles in neurology, anesthesiology, orthopedics, obstetrics & gynecology, and nursing specialties. Medknow, claimed to be the world's largest open access medical publishers, has a portfolio of more than 250 specialty titles covering medicine, dental, pharmacy and pharmacology, alternative medicine and science disciplines from societies across Asia, the Middle East, Europe and Africa.

WK Health is part of a growing list of publishers and other content partners that are taking part in EDS to bring more visibility to their content. Partners include the world's largest scholarly journal & book publishers including Elsevier, Wiley Blackwell, Springer Science & Business Media, Taylor & Francis Informa, Sage Publications, Nature Publishing, IEEE, ACM and thousands of others. Partners also include content providers, such as LexisNexis, Thomson Reuters (Web of Science), JSTOR, ARTstor, Credo Reference, Encyclopedia Britannica, World Book, ABC-CLIO and the Hathi Trust.

EBSCO Discovery Service seeks to create a unified, customised index of an institution's information resources, and an easy, yet powerful means of accessing all of that content from a single search box. According to the company, it is quickly becoming the discovery selection for many libraries, and an obvious partner for content providers.
