Healthcare publisher Lippincott Williams & Wilkins (LWW), part of Wolters Kluwer Health, US, announced major increases in journal impact factors across its portfolio.
According to the 2007 Journal Citation Reports published by ThomsonReuters, over 65 percent of 147 ranked LWW journals increased their impact factor. The impact factor measures the frequency with which peer-reviewed journals are cited by other researchers.
Notable showings include the journal Circulation, which increased its impact factor 17 percent to 12.755. Circulation continues to hold the top spot in the categories of Peripheral Vascular Disease, Hematology, and Cardiac and Cardiovascular Systems.
LWW now dominates the Peripheral Vascular Disease category, publishing the top six journals: Circulation; Circulation Research; Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology; Hypertension; Stroke; and Current Opinion in Lipidology. LWW has a strong presence in specialties including Hematology, publishing three of the top five journals; Obstetrics & Gynecology, publishing two of the top five journals; and Anesthesiology, publishing four of the top ten journals. LWW is also the publisher of top-ranked journals including Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (now #1 in Pediatrics) and Annals of Surgery (#1 in Surgery).
