Maine State Library partners with EBSCO Information Services for state-wide database access -

The Maine State Library has announced a new multi-year partnership with EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) to provide a comprehensive suite of online research databases and digital resources across the state. This collaboration will enhance access to high-quality research materials for Maine residents, schools, public libraries, community colleges, universities, and hospital libraries.

Under the agreement, EBSCO will supply a diverse collection of full-text research databases, including leading journals and reference materials that cater to a wide range of research needs. The resources will support lifelong learning and academic research, benefiting students from early education through to post-graduate studies.

The extensive database collection includes:

• Academic Search Complete: Offering a broad array of academic journals and research articles.

• Business Source® Complete: Providing comprehensive business research materials.

• MasterFILE Complete: Featuring general reference materials and magazines.

• NoveList® Plus: A tool for book recommendations and readers’ advisory.

• LearningExpress Library Complete: Supporting career development and educational advancement.

The resources will be accessible through Digital Maine Library, which will serve 32 academic institutions, over 600 schools, 255 public libraries, and numerous special libraries, including those in hospitals. Additionally, Maine residents will benefit from Explora, a user-friendly platform tailored for schools and public libraries, and EBSCOhost®, an intuitive research platform designed to streamline the search for information.

The Maine Telecommunications Education Access Fund, administered by the Maine Public Utilities Commission, provides funding for the Digital Maine Library, as stipulated by Maine state law.

This partnership with EBSCO is set to significantly enhance the availability and quality of research resources across Maine, promoting educational success and lifelong learning throughout the state.
