McGraw-Hill Education unveils new K-12 digital partnerships and products -

Education materials publisher McGraw-Hill Education, US, has announced a series of new technology-based partnerships and products that are projected to enhance the company's line of digital K-12 education solutions. These were presented at the ongoing International Society for Technology in Education's annual conference in Denver.

The company has selected M&A Technology, a Texas-based company, to manufacture and distribute a device based on the Intel-powered convertible classmate PC reference design. The device - McGraw-Hill Companion Touch - seeks to combine Intel Learning Series' technology, designed specifically for the elementary school classroom, with McGraw-Hill's educational content. This collaboration offers school districts the flexibility to choose from a variety of options including total digital solutions or hybrid models consisting of print and digital components. Through McGraw-Hill's expanded collaboration with Intel and the new partnership with M&A Technology, school districts can expect to offer students instruction that is engaging, individualised and personalised.

The first McGraw-Hill Education programmes optimised for this device are LEAD21, an elementary literacy programme designed to reach a new generation of readers; and CINCH Mathematics, a digital K-6 math curriculum that uses interactive whiteboard teaching and online capabilities. Both programmes were developed in conjunction with McGraw-Hill's Center for Digital Innovation.

CTB/McGraw-Hill has expanded its alliance with Promethean, a provider of interactive learning technology. Through the alliance, Promethean will provide its ActivExpression Learner Response Devices ('clickers') for CTB's Acuity UnWired solution. ActivExpression Learner Response Devices are wireless transmitters that allow students to take assessments using remote "clickers" instead of pencils and paper or computer terminals.

McGraw-Hill has also announced a new collaboration with Learn360, an interactive media-on-demand service for the K-12 education market, which will link McGraw-Hill's educational content to media-rich assets designed to engage students. Students will be able to navigate directly from McGraw-Hill's online content to relevant multimedia resources that have been specially selected by the publisher.

In addition, the company announced the launch of ConnectED, an online resource centre that allows educators to easily access and navigate the digital versions of McGraw-Hill Education programmes their district has purchased. Through ConnectED, educators can find resources aligned with their programmes. This includes interactive online teachers' editions, assessments, ancillaries and activities, as well as tools like lesson planners and the ability to search curriculum standards to locate digital assets aligned to the standards. Additionally, students can use ConnectED to access both instructional and assessment activities.
