MetaPress, a US-based web hosting platform service for STM content, has announced a new partnership agreement with scientific and technical publisher Woodhead Publishing Limited, UK.
Under the deal, MetaPress will develop and host a multitiered e-book platform for Woodhead Publishing to be completed before July 2009. The new platform, which will consist of a primary site and several subject-specific sites, is considered necessary to accommodate the substantial growth that Woodhead Publishing has experienced surrounding e-book publications in subject areas such as Food science, technology and nutrition; Materials technology; Welding and metallurgy; Mechanical and civil engineering; Textile technology; Environmental technology; and Finance, commodities and investment.
In business since 2000, MetaPress became the industry's first content management system with dimensional navigation across a variety of content types with the release of MetaPress 2.0 in August 2006. A primary source online hosting platform for almost 32,000 scholarly publications across the globe, MetaPress seeks to provide a comprehensive solution to web publishing needs. It offers an established way to publish titles electronically, regardless of existing content format. Currently, MetaPress provides services and support to 184 publishers.
