National Research Council of Italy joins Clarivate’s Web of Science Research Intelligence early adopter program -

The National Research Council of Italy (Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche, CNR) has joined the early adopter program for Web of Science Research Intelligence, an agentic AI-native platform developed by Clarivate in collaboration with the global research community.

The platform provides institutions with a unified, evidence-based view of research activity by connecting publisher-neutral data across publications, patents, grants, policy documents, clinical trials, and other research outputs.

Web of Science Research Intelligence applies responsible AI to generate insights that support strategic planning, research evaluation, funding discovery, and communication of societal impact. The platform incorporates a multidimensional societal impact framework designed to help institutions understand how research contributes to outcomes beyond traditional bibliometric indicators.

Participation in the early adopter program provides CNR with early access to developing capabilities and allows the institution to contribute feedback that informs the ongoing refinement of the platform. Through this program, CNR joins a group of global research institutions exploring new evidence-based approaches to analyzing and demonstrating research impact.

The early access program includes several activities designed to support research strategy and evaluation. These capabilities include identifying funding opportunities aligned with institutional priorities, discovering expertise across disciplines and geographic regions, analyzing research activity through a transparent societal impact framework, and using AI-guided recommendations to support evidence-informed decision-making.

The platform also provides consolidated reporting and analytics generated from unified, trusted datasets.

Capabilities available to early adopters draw on publisher-neutral data from sources such as the Web of Science Core Collection, Derwent Innovations Index, and global funding sources. These datasets enable integrated tools such as a research intelligence assistant, funding discovery and tracking services, expert finder, societal impact reporting and research performance reporting for evaluating societal impact and research performance.

These tools are designed to help research leaders, librarians, and researchers gain clearer visibility into research activity while supporting planning, evaluation, and communication of research outcomes.

Web of Science Research Intelligence is being developed in collaboration with universities, libraries, researchers, and research strategists. The platform aims to unify trusted research data with responsible AI in a transparent environment where insights can be traced directly to underlying datasets.

The early adopter cohort has now closed as Clarivate prepares for the general release of Web of Science Research Intelligence, scheduled for May 2026.
