Scientific publisher Nature Publishing Group (NPG), UK, and the International Pediatric Research Foundation (IPRF) have announced a publishing partnership. Under the deal, NPG will publish the journal, Pediatric Research, on behalf of IPRF from January 2012.
Pediatric Research is owned by the IPRF and is the official publication of the American Pediatric Society, the European Society for Paediatric Research, and the Society for Pediatric Research. The journal publishes original research papers, invited reviews, and commentaries on the etiologies of diseases of children and disorders of development, extending from molecular biology to epidemiology. Use of model organisms and in vitro techniques relevant to developmental biology and medicine, as well as translational studies, are also published.
As part of the publishing agreement with NPG, the journal will undergo development including a redesign in print and online. It will also introduce an open access option from January 2012, whereby authors can choose to make their article open access on payment of an article processing charge (APC). Site licenses and personal subscriptions will be available from NPG from January 2012.
IPRF will retain its original editorial rights including copyright and editorial board appointment. The aims and scope of Pediatric Research will remain the same. NPG will work with the journal's current publisher, Wolters Kluwer Health / Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, throughout the journal's transition in 2011.
