China-based Internet technology company NetEase, Inc. is now offering John Wiley & Sons, Inc's Certified Big Data Developer (WCBDD) and Wiley Certified Mobile Application Developer (WCMAD) certification courses under a partnership inked by both companies recently. The partnership underpins Wiley's commitment to fulfilling the needs of the Chinese market for robust and internationally-recognised content and certification and will also pave the way for additional courses to be offered with NetEase. The teaching in the courses is vendor neutral, which means that participants have greater flexibility in deploying the knowledge they have acquired through the courses.
With course objectives designed with job-role specific responsibilities in mind, as well as the focus on hands-on skill development, the courses are expected to meet burgeoning demand for skills and expertise in big data, as well as that for mobile application development. The courses will be offered on NetEase's Cloud classroom and can be accessed via the web and Android mobile devices, making it as easy as possible for course participants to learn anytime, anywhere. To ensure that participants maximize learning and understanding, all content (comprising videos, lab exercises and study materials) now comes with Chinese subtitles; having been translated from English.
As the content is developed by some of the world's foremost experts and authors in their respective fields, the programs offer course participants a mix of theoretical and interactive training modules, on-demand videos and project work to support learning. Participants will also be assessed from time to time, to reinforce learning. The courses teach necessary skills and knowledge to enhance employability and prepare students for jobs in today's industry.
WCBDD is aimed at developing and upskilling big data technology specialists in developing and maintaining solutions that can effectively manage, process and store big data, according to business and industry requirements. Course participants will learn fundamentals such as technology, storage, processing, management and security infrastructure for big data, gain experience in working with Hadoop and its ecosystem, development of MapReduce and Pig programs, as well as other software programs. They will also be able to learn at their own pace as modules are built independently. Each module is about 10 hours of training and lab work and the entire course can be completed between 30 and 70 hours, depending on the proficiency and skill-sets of students. The course includes a 10-hour project which tests students on what they have learnt.
WCMAD offers a wide range of content from the updated and globally-acclaimed Wiley content repository aimed at developing a new international breed of versatile and agile mobile application developers thoroughly conversant with basic and advanced application development techniques and various mobile platforms. Participants will learn about the entire mobile app development and deployment lifecycle while developing HTML5, cross-platform mobile and enterprise-level Android applications. They will also be able to specialize in either the Android or iOS platforms. The program's focus on practical, interactive learning is best evidenced by its 'show' approach. Rather than to just 'tell', the program aims to facilitate learning by using concept and simulation-based videos. An array of assessment and evaluation tools reinforces learning. The WCMAD program consists of seven learning modules and two projects; with the former comprising approximately 10 hours of training and lab work and the latter, between seven and eight hours per project.
