United Business Media's (UBM) bid to join together with rival publisher Informa, UK, has fallen through but another bidder has reportedly emerged for the company. In a recent statement, Informa has announced that discussions with UBM had 'ceased' as 'no agreement on terms had been reached between the parties'.
Private equity firms Providence Equity Partners and Carlyle Group are working on a $3.5 billion deal to acquire Informa.
Informa publishes journals and books for scientific, academic and professional groups. It has over 150 offices in more than 40 countries. With 5,000 staff in over 30 countries, UBM focuses on professional and commercial sectors. The deal would have created a publishing giant valued at about £3 billion.
