The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) has selected Blackboard Learn™ as its new teaching and learning platform following a competitive evaluation of the industry's leading e-learning systems. Throughout the review process, Blackboard was the vendor that best met the institution's needs and requirements for openness, flexibility and usability. Additionally, Blackboard Learn was found to be a highly customisable solution able to support different teaching methodologies across the faculties.
With over 39,000 students and 60 international master's programmes, NTNU is the largest public research university in Norway and recently merged with university colleges in Gjøvik, Ålesund and Sør-Trøndelag. Thanks to Blackboard, the university will be able to implement best practices, giving educators the chance to use the e-learning system in a way that suits their teaching styles, and providing learners with the best tools to achieve educational success. Moreover, according to NTNU, with the implementation of Blackboard's platform the overall cost for the post-combination University will be approximately 75 percent lower per year than before.
Through Blackboard, NTNU will also gain access to a wide community of higher education institutions and educational leaders around the world, helping them increase opportunities for international partnerships.
