NoveList, a division of EBSCO Publishing (EBSCO), has announced a partnership with COMPanion Corporation. COMPanion is the developer of Alexandria - best known for its power and ease of use. Alexandria offers the best cross platform library automation solution for Windows and Macintosh.
The partnership will enrich K-12 reading curriculum by providing book recommendations to students and offering curriculum-based activities to teachers and school librarians. NoveListSelect, can now be seamlessly integrated into COMPanion's Alexandria Library Automation Program. With NoveList Select in Alexandria, when a student searches for a book via the Alexandria portal, NoveList Select will return reading recommendations based on that book - and based on titles that the library owns.
The agreement between the two organisations brings decades of experience in school libraries directly into classrooms, and could potentially benefit students and teachers in thousands of schools. The relationship between NoveList and COMPanion allows reading recommendations to be displayed directly into the catalogues of the more than 10,000 schools that use the Alexandria catalogue. The joint services they provide help stimulate reading and library use by helping patrons find resources that interest them whether it be for school work, teaching or enjoyment.
In addition to book recommendations, NoveList will provide rich information about the book entered in the search, such as reviews, information on other books in the series (if applicable), book discussions, tone, writing style, book discussions and more via the NoveList Select service.
