NPG implements RSuite for content management -

Scientific publisher Nature Publishing Group (NPG), UK, has announced that it has implemented RSuite, a content management system for publishers. NPG publishes journals, online databases and services across the life, physical, chemical and applied sciences and clinical medicine.

NPG needed to replace several legacy production systems while still being able to leverage the investment in some existing tools, including MarkLogic Server. RSuite reportedly enabled NPG to accomplish this by facilitating the automation of its workflows. This in turn is projected to enable scalability without additional resource requirements, and allow for a more streamlined production process.

The publisher consolidated multiple content-centric solutions and uses RSuite for the posting of live online journal content to the web. During the implementation process, it was recognised that adding multiple journals into the production stream would no longer require additional staff and training.

RSuite is a browser-based content management system that seeks to facilitate the creation, management, re-use and distribution of XML, media files, and other document formats (Word, PDF, InDesign, etc). It is powered by MarkLogic Server and provides native support for XML content storage services; full text search in combination with XQuery; a full suite of editorial capabilities for XML and other content formats; content re-use at many levels; and editorial workflow tools.
