OpenAIRE and Institut Pasteur partner to expand open science training across Europe -

OpenAIRE and Institut Pasteur have formalized a strategic collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focused on advancing Open Science training and strengthening research capacity across Europe. The partnership combines OpenAIRE’s expertise in open scholarly communication infrastructure with Institut Pasteur’s leadership in biomedical research and education.

The collaboration will center on the joint development and delivery of training programs through OpenPlato, an e-learning platform dedicated to Open Science. The initiative targets students, PhD candidates, early-career researchers, and research support staff, providing training in areas such as open access publishing, FAIR data management, and responsible research practices.

A key component of the partnership involves the co-creation of interoperable and FAIR-aligned learning resources, including online courses, tutorials, and multimedia content. These materials will be openly licensed to support reuse across institutions, ensuring long-term accessibility and scalability of training efforts.

The partnership also supports the integration of OpenPlato into Institut Pasteur’s internal training ecosystem, enhancing institutional capacity for delivering Open Science education. This approach is expected to strengthen the adoption of Open Science practices within biomedical research environments.

Beyond training, the collaboration aims to foster participation in European research projects and strengthen connections between OpenAIRE’s network and the Pasteur Network, which spans more than 30 institutes globally. By leveraging complementary expertise and community networks, both organizations aim to expand access to Open Science education and promote collaborative research practices.

The initiative reflects broader efforts within Europe to build sustainable and interoperable research infrastructures, supporting the transition toward a more open and transparent scholarly communication ecosystem.
