Information solutions provider Ovid, part of Wolters Kluwer Health, US, has signed an agreement with the Institute of Science and Technology Information of China to provide access to the Lippincott Williams & Wilkins (LWW) Journal Definitive Archive collection through the National Science and Technology Library (NSTL) to higher education and scientific research institutions, affiliated hospitals and public libraries of higher education institutions within the Mainland of China. The agreement marks the first US-published medical content to be included in the NSTL library initiative. Initially, access will be provided to about 300 institutions in China.
A virtual library initiative, the NSTL is a unique, collaborative model established in 2000 by the China State Council in a commitment to the preservation and advancement of academic research. NSTL's participating libraries and research institutions contribute to the database of leading scientific, technical, and medical periodicals across core disciplines.
Published by LWW, the LWW Journal Definitive Archive is made available exclusively on OvidSP, Ovid's industry-leading precision search and discovery platform. LWW's Journal Definitive Archive offers more than 44,000 journal issues and millions of articles containing original research, reviews, notes, letters, case studies and images. Most coverage dates begin with the journal's inaugural issue (Volume 1, Issue 1) and end with the final issue of 2003. Simultaneous access to the front-file and back-file of the same journal or collection is also available.
